TLT advises K3 Capital Group on investment into two financial advisory firms
National law firm TLT has advised multi-disciplinary professional services firm and long-standing client, K3 Capital Group, on its investment into two Manchester-based financial advisory firms, Pareto Financial Planning and Luna Investment Management.
Manchester-based Pareto was founded in 2008 and provides financial planning to individuals and SMEs, and provides advice in areas such as investments, pensions, protection, tax planning and employee benefits.
Luna Investment Management provides specialist investment management services to private clients and their advisors across the UK, underpinned by award-winning technology.
The investment in the two firms by K3 will provide the business with a fifth operating division in the financial services sector, alongside its divisions focussed on Business Sales; Tax; Restructuring, and Technology Solutions. The addition of a financial services arm to the group provides a personal as well as a business advisory plank to the group and represents a significant milestone in its evolution.
The TLT deal team was led by Ian Roberts, Corporate Partner with support from Seraphina Wilkins-Tolliday, and Joanna Grover, Senior Associates and James Pike and Mudassar Iqbal, Associates.
The deal also required cross-practice expertise from the firm's Tax; Financial Services; Commercial; Real Estate; Banking; Employment; Pensions; Data Protection; and Tech IP and Data teams.
This is the latest in a series of acquisitions TLT has supported K3 on in recent years. These include advising on the acquisition of business management software solutions specialist Pinnacle Computing and capital allowance advisory specialists HMA Tax in 2024; Chamberlain & Co in 2023, Professional Insight Marketing in 2022, Knight Corporate Finance Group in 2022, InTAX in 2021 and Quantuma and randd in 2020.
Ian Roberts, Corporate Partner at TLT commented: "K3 Capital continues to add depth, value and expertise to its offering with these new acquisitions. As a long-term client of TLT, we are pleased to be part of K3's ongoing growth and development journey.
This deal is part of a wider trend of private equity investing in the professional and financial services sectors, particularly in the North West. The transaction was an excellent demonstration of our sector strength in the region, as the deal was led from Manchester, but it was also an opportunity to showcase our national capability."
Andy Melbourne, chief financial officer at K3 Capital Group added: "These acquisitions will extend K3’s lifecycle advisory model, helping businesses and their owners maximise value creation, as well as achieving their personal and professional ambitions at every stage.
We have worked with TLT on numerous transactions, and it was a simple decision to return to work with them again. Their advice has always been of the highest calibre, and they have been by our side for some of our most significant moments over the past few years – a testament to the strength of our working relationship."
