DMCC Act: The next chapter for CMA Consumer Law Enforcement
Earlier this year the UK’s consumer protection law was ‘reset’ under the DMCCA. During that time we’ve seen the CMA issue a blitz of new guidance documents but, at the time of writing, it has still not opened any new cases under the new regime. There has also been a new interim CMA chair put in place and the CMA received a well-publicised ‘strategic steer’ from a Labour government that wants to see it focus more on economic growth.
So what comes next?
Join us and strategic advisory firm, Fingleton, at our London TLT office for our co-hosted event where we will be discussing the next chapter in DMCCA consumer protection enforcement. In addition to opening remarks from former CEO of the OFT, John Fingleton CBE, we’ll be joined by a fantastic panel of experts including Laura Woodfine-Jones, Senior Managing Counsel at booking.com, Mia Morgan, Assistant GC at Trainline, Timothy Geer, Director at Fingleton and former Director at the CMA and Richard Collie, Partner, TLT.
Key topics that we'll cover in the session include:
- What areas are the CMA likely to prioritise for consumer law enforcement?
- What kind of enforcement will they take?
- What are the likely outcomes of the CMA’s initial enforcement?
- How can you pre-emptively manage enforcement risk?
- If you are investigated, how should you respond?
