Joe is a solicitor in TLT's Digital, Data and Commercial team. Joe specialises in technology transactions, intellectual property, and the legal and regulatory landscape shaping AI and emerging technologies. He advises a wide range of clients, on both the customer and supplier side, including software houses, retailers, government bodies, multinational telecoms businesses and start-ups, across sectors including food and drink, leisure and the public sector.
His transactional work covers complex outsourcing and cloud arrangements, SaaS agreements, software licensing and digital transformation projects. Joe has been involved in a number of significant strategic IT projects, including work for Vodafone and the Home Office, and has developed practical commercial insight through an in-house secondment at Vodafone UK.
Joe works with both developers and deployers of AI systems, advising on governance frameworks, use case reviews, EU AI Act categorisation and compliance road mapping for high-risk applications.
Across his IP practice, Joe supports clients through the full lifecycle of their intellectual property, from identifying and protecting rights at the outset, through to commercialisation and licensing, and into disputes, enforcement and defence of those rights where necessary.
Joe also advises on data protection matters, including GDPR compliance, international data transfers, multi-jurisdictional advisory projects, and responding to data breaches and cybersecurity incidents.
