TLT supercharges innovation and tech offering with strategic partner hire
National law firm TLT has appointed Amy McConnell as partner in its award-winning FutureLaw team. Amy’s appointment will play a key role in TLT further strengthening its innovation capabilities and consolidating its position as a first-tier adviser to General Counsels on legal department strategy, transformation and technology.
Amy has joined TLT from Vodafone Group, where, as Head of Legal Operations, Commercial Transactions & Product, she led the transformation of the legal function - driving innovation, streamlining processes and embedding intelligent technology across the department.
The appointment marks another significant milestone in TLT’s journey to redefine how legal services are delivered to clients. With nearly a decade of expertise in legal operations and a proven track record of leading large-scale transformation, Amy will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of legal strategy and technology for TLT’s clients
At Vodafone, Amy built and led a large team of legal and legal operations professionals, spearheaded a major legal transformation project that cut contract turnaround times by 50%, unlocking faster revenue generation and operational efficiency and led the expansion of Vodafone’s contracting and operations centre of excellence in Budapest. She also partnered with TLT’s FutureLaw team to launch Vodafone’s Legal Operations Consortium and introduce a suite of transformation initiatives including the launch of the department’s GenAI programme.
Amy’s in-house transformation and leadership experience and understanding of the digital sector have made her a sought-after adviser in the legal operations space. Her appointment will further enhance TLT’s FutureLaw offering, which is already recognised as a market leader in legal innovation.
Beyond her legal operations work, in 2015, Amy was honoured as one of Timewise’s “Power 50” for her achievements in championing flexible and part-time work, reflecting TLT’s commitment to creating a people-first culture based on inclusion and progressive ways of working. She was included within Women Who Will 2021 Report as part of the Next 100 Years Project and is also an alumna of the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
Working alongside James Touzel, Partner and Head of FutureLaw, Amy will advise General Counsels on how to future-proof their legal departments, helping them adapt to the evolving expectations of their businesses. She will also lead transformation consulting projects and contribute to the growth of TLT’s innovation and digital services.
James Touzel, Partner and Head of FutureLaw at TLT said: “Amy has been a long-term supporter of TLT. We have worked with her for many years to help diver valued innovation projects, which have made a tangible difference to Vodafone Group’s legal operations. Amy’s market-leading understanding of legal department operations will be an invaluable addition to our capabilities when supporting clients to be ready for what comes next. We’re excited to welcome Amy to the team and for her to bring her expertise, knowledge and passion for innovation and tech to our other clients.”
Amy McConnell, Partner at TLT commented: “Having worked with TLT for a number of years, I have first-hand experience of the firm’s commitment to going the extra mile to build trust with in-house legal teams and deliver outstanding results for clients. TLT has established itself as a trusted advisor in the legal tech space by always having client objectives in mind and working collaboratively to design and implement new technology and ways of working. This approach is unique amongst comparable law firms and one I know many more clients will welcome.”
Amy’s appointment builds on a number of achievements for TLT in the innovation space in recent years. TLT’s FutureLaw team’s recent wins include TLT and Vodafone winning Legal Technology Team of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2024, winning the Legal Innovation of the Year Award at the Bristol Law Society Awards 2024 and the Future of Legal Services Innovation award at Law.com’s Legal Innovation Awards in 2023, in addition to being a finalist for the European Legal Innovation and Technology Awards in May 2025.
The news also follows a major milestone in TLT’s wider generative AI programme, Project Maui, which saw the firm roll-out Legora across its legal operations. The platform has been launched as part of the firm’s strategy to integrate the best generative AI tools to improve client outcomes.
