TLT advises Praetura Ventures on funding for sustainable manufacturing start-up
National law firm TLT has advised venture capital firm Praetura Ventures on its Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II) investment into Liverpool-based sustainable advanced manufacturing start-up, Atomik AM.
Praetura Ventures is‚ÄØa‚ÄØManchester-based venture capital firm which invests in early-stage,‚ÄØhigh-growth businesses across the UK, with a particular focus on supporting entrepreneurs across the north of England.‚ÄØ
Atomik AM creates sustainable materials and patented technologies to support scalable and efficient advanced manufacturing. It was founded in October 2022 by Professor Kate Black, a professor of manufacturing at the University of Liverpool.
The new investment from Praetura Ventures, made via NPIF II – Praetura Equity Finance, which is managed by Praetura Ventures as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, will enable Atomik to grow its Liverpool City region-based team by 40% and explore larger premises, as it looks to scale further in the region.
TLT advised Praetura Ventures on the investment. The team was led by Corporate Partner Victoria Zivkovic, with support from Senior Associate Greg Mazgajczyk.
Commenting on the deal, Victoria Zivkovic, Corporate Partner at TLT said: “Investments such as this are an important means of boosting the northern economy, as well as supporting the industries of the future. This particular investment also upholds the North West’s history and proud reputation for manufacturing, and demonstrates that, with a strong business proposition, there are investment and growth opportunities available.
“It was a pleasure to work with Praetura Ventures once again, and we look forward to continuing the development of Atomik following the new investment.”
Louise Chapman, NPIF II Fund Principal at Praetura Ventures, said: “The manufacturing sector is responsible for around 22% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions, so investing in a company that is making the advanced manufacturing space truly sustainable represents a really exciting opportunity and one we didn’t want to miss out on.
“Having worked with TLT on a previous investment deal, we knew that their expertise and experience was second-to-none, and it was a simple choice to work with the firm again.”
This is the second investment that TLT has advised Praetura Ventures on in the past six months, having also advised on the investment into the cybersecurity startup CloudGuard.
