TLT Managing Partner shortlisted at Legal Business Awards

John Wood, Managing Partner at national law firm TLT, has been nominated for the Managing Partner of the Year award at the Legal Business Awards 2025, following a year of record-breaking success.

Now in their 28th edition, the Legal Business Awards celebrate and recognise the achievements of those working in the legal sector.

Since becoming Managing Partner in 2020, John has strived to deliver a “firm of opportunity”, a workplace with a people-first culture, where flexible working is embraced and sustainability and ED&I are ingrained, top priorities; while always ensuring exceptional client service and delivering financial growth. John’s authentic and approachable leadership style, sets him apart in the industry and has been reflected in his recognition in the Legal Business Awards.

Under his leadership, TLT has focussed on a long term strategic investment in people and technology and has delivered a market-leading workplace of opportunity.

His tenure has seen the firm generate consistent, sustainable financial growth and development, most recently demonstrated by record-breaking financial results for 2024/2025, with turnover up to £187m.

John’s progressive vision has driven his commitments to improve the way legal services are delivered to clients resulting in investments into the firm’s award-winning FutureLaw team and onboarding the latest cutting-edge technology such as Legora.

As the chair of TLT’s Executive Board, John has also been a key driver of its pioneering people strategy, which has placed the firm at the forefront of the legal profession for inclusivity and diversity. Across the past 12 months, TLT has partnered with Women’s Health Charity ‘Wellbeing of Women’; become one of the founding partners of the UK’s first accreditation scheme designed to set new benchmarks for family-friendly workplaces; and been named a Top 50 Employer for Gender Equality by The Times for the third consecutive year.

This year has also seen TLT continue to invest in talent, strengthening its capabilities across key sectors and services, with 12 new partners arriving in the past year alone. These new arrivals have strengthened the firm’s capabilities across key sectors and services and bolstered its reputation as a go-to strategic adviser for complex transactional and regulatory work.
