Damien has deep expertise in SIPP and SSAS schemes. He advises providers, trustees and scheme administrators on pensions tax, pensions law and regulatory compliance. He drafts and updates scheme documentation to establish and govern SIPPs and SSASs. Damien is a member of the Association of Member-Directed Pension Schemes (AMPS), the industry body for SIPP and SSAS providers, and speaks regularly at its conferences.
His broad experience includes advising on changes to defined benefit pension schemes, arrangements for managing scheme liabilities, transfers to master trusts and automatic enrolment compliance. He also advises on pensions issues that affect corporate reorganisations, acquisitions and disposals.
He also has experience advising on fiduciary management agreements, custody agreements and pensions investments.
Damien is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and is ranked as a recommended pensions partner in Chambers UK 2025.
