Daniel Meyer

Daniel has experience assisting a range of clients navigate financial services regulation with a particular focus on retail financial services, in particular on consumer credit regulation, payment services and insurance. Daniel’s experience includes completing legal secondments working in-house at a leading motor finance provider and at a home appliance insurer and insurance intermediary.

Daniel has experience working closely with a range of banks, lenders, hirers, credit brokers, insurers and insurance intermediaries. Daniel regularly advises on regulatory compliance with the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the Retail Banking Markets Investigation Order 2017, Insurance Distribution Directive, payment services regulation and FCA rules and guidance. Daniel’s experience includes drafting consumer credit documentation, advising on affordable lending processes, providing regulatory perimeter advice when clients are changing business models, and advising clients on the recent FCA intervention and litigation relating to commission payments to credit brokers.

  • Acting on the development of new and novel credit products, including advising on consumer credit documentation and issues relating to digital transformation and paperless documentation.
  • Advising clients in the motor sector and across the consumer credit sector on the impact of the recent FCA intervention and litigation relating to commission payments to credit brokers.
  • Advising clients in the insurance and funeral plans sectors on various regulatory issues.
  • Assisting a neobank with compliance with the Retail Banking Markets Investigation Order 2017.
  • Advising on the impact of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 on clients in the financial services sector.
