TLT boosts public sector team with strategic Partner hire
National law firm TLT announces arrival of public sector Partner Alison Richards in Birmingham.
Joining TLT from Gowling, Ali primarily advises on commercial contracts and procurement for a wide range of public sector clients. She has extensive experience of large-scale, complex Government and wider public sector transactions, and regularly advises clients on preparatory stages including participation in options assessments, strategic procurement and the formation and structuring of transactions. Ali’s practice extends to advising on regulated procurement, shared working, contracts, major projects and general governance and constitutional matters.
Among her client base has been a wide range of central government bodies including the Ministry of Defence, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, British Council, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Department of Health, Competition and Markets Authority, Government Property Agency, as well as The Royal Parks, NHS, blue light services, local government, housing associations and many more.
In addition to her legal practice, Ali is committed to investing in people, including through active involvement in affinity networks and in her capacity as mentor and supervisor to the next generation of lawyers. This aligns with TLT’s prioritisation of a people-first, values driven culture.
Commenting on Ali’s appointment, Bill Hull, Partner and Head of Government and Public Services said: “Ali is an experienced public sector lawyer who has worked with an enormous variety of clients and has built an outstanding catalogue of successes across her career to date. On top of her legal credentials, she is an outstanding leader and champion who joins us at really exciting time, having secured major tender and client wins for central government, local government and blue light panels plus new appointments to the likes of Transport for London and Network Rail."
Ali Richards, Partner added: “TLT’s market leading public sector team, top-tier transactional and regulatory strength and clear commitment to people, planet and places leave me in no doubt that this is the right place for the next stage in my career. I'm excited to collaborate with the highly talented team here and to support the innovative approach to reshaping the legal advisory landscape within the public sector.”
TLT’s public sector team has experienced significant growth in the last year, including with the completion of the UK’s largest legal practice dedicated to public law, infrastructure planning and future energy. The firm also announced further sector investment last month with the arrival of Future Energy regulatory Partner, Helen Raynsford.
