TLT celebrates growing recognition in Birmingham and the Midlands

National law firm TLT has delivered a strong performance in the 2027 Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 UK guide rankings, reflecting its continued strategic growth.

TLT has secured 11 practice area rankings, including six first time rankings within Birmingham and across the Midlands. These include first-time rankings for Commercial Litigation (Birmingham) and Banking and Finance (West Midlands) in the Legal 500 UK guide. TLT also secured new rankings for Banking & Finance (Midlands) and Employment (West Midlands) in Chambers & Partners.

Twelve of the firm’s lawyers in Birmingham were ranked across Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 UK, of which three for the first time. Employment Partner Charlie Rae was recognised in the Legal 500 ‘Hall of Fame’ and achieved a Band 1 ranking in Chambers & Partners.

Further recognition includes Partner Roy Grist, ranked for Banking & Finance (Midlands) in Chambers & Partners, while Partner Roger Potgieter, is recognised as a ‘Leading Partner’ in two Legal 500 UK West Midlands practice areas: Commercial Litigation and Banking Litigation. This recognition follows the firm's victory for 'Top Asset Finance Legal Team' award at the Leasing World Going Further Gold Awards 2026 for the second consecutive year.

The results across both directories emphasise the strength of TLT's offering across Birmingham and the Midlands, reflecting the firm's continued investment and growth in the region. This includes a series of high profile Partner hires in the last year: Projects, Infrastructure and Construction Partner Ruth Griffin,  corporate finance and M&A specialist Andrew Glaze, Restructuring & Insolvency Partner Ollie Ward-Jones, and Public Sector Procurement Partner Alison Richards.

Since entering the market in 2023, the firm has grown from three to over 75 colleagues, and recently expanded into new premises at One Centenary Way, further reflecting rapid growth and increasing client demand in the Midlands across financial services, employment, private wealth and commercial litigation matters.

Mark Elder, Partner and Head of location for TLT in Birmingham said: "It’s great to see so many of our teams and individuals recognised in this year's directories rankings. These results speak to the strength and depth of our expanding offering in Birmingham and nationally as we continue to build alongside our clients in Birmingham and across the Midlands.

“We have seen significant growth both in the region and across the firm, reflected in our strong financial results, the appointment of numerous talented new colleagues and our move to One Centenary Way. This continued investment strengthens our expertise and offering across our key sectors to our clients and demonstrates our long-term commitment to grow our presence in Birmingham."
