TLT Future Energy team reaches new heights in Clean Energy Legal League Table

UK national law firm TLT has been ranked as second for M&A deal volume and again among the top 10 most influential legal advisers overall in Clean Energy Pipeline’s 2025/2026 Clean Energy Legal League Table – the firm’s strongest performance to date.

The Clean Energy Legal League Table ranks the world’s top 20 law firms to advise on clean energy M&A deals in 2025. Eligible transactions for the annual ranking include advising developers, companies and investors to support global clean energy project developments and technologies.

TLT ranked second by M&A deal volume, having advised on a total of 82 transactions in 2025; and in the top 20 by deal value (17th). The firm also ranked in the top ten most influential law firms globally, placing sixth, for playing a central role in enabling renewable energy deployment across the world.

The report’s methodology assesses both scale (deal value) and market participation (deal volume), with TLT’s results reflecting a practice defined by high activity levels and consistent delivery across multiple transactions.

Stand-out projects on which TLT advised in 2025 included: advising Low Carbon on the largest single co-located solar disposal of 2025 being the 500MW Gate Burton project to EDF and the disposal of the largest co-located portfolio of 2025 being the 435MW solar and battery portfolio to TotalEnergies; advising BOOM Power on five solar disposals including its disposal of the 530MWp East Yorkshire solar project to Ampyr Solar Europe; advising Eku Energy on the largest standalone battery portfolio acquisition being a 1GW+ battery storage portfolio from Bluestone Energy, advising Dalmore Capital on the two largest hydro portfolio acquisitions of 2025; and advising Uniper on its first wind acquisition in the UK – the 46MW Hare Craig wind project.

Kay Hobbs, Partner in TLT’s Future Energy team, commented: “2025 has been another strong year for the clean energy market, with sustained investor appetite and a high volume of transactions across solar, battery storage and wider renewable infrastructure. While the sector continues to navigate challenges such as grid constraints and evolving regulatory frameworks, activity remains resilient as developers and investors progress projects critical to the energy transition.

“We are delighted to have achieved our strongest performance to date in the Clean Energy Legal League Table. Our ranking and consistent presence reflect the breadth of our work across complex, market-leading transactions and the strength of our relationships with clients operating at the forefront of the energy transition.

"None of this would be possible without the trust our clients place in us and we are very grateful to them for their continued confidence in us and for the opportunity to support their development and investment ambitions.”
