TLT advises leading renewable energy company on sweep of strategic transactions
National law firm TLT has advised renewable energy development company, BOOM Power, on five major transactions in the past six months, including the sale of its first Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP).
Specialising in solar PV and battery storage, BOOM Power's services span the development and construction through to operation and maintenance of renewables assets.
TLT, which has UK’s largest legal practice dedicated to public law, infrastructure planning and future energy, has advised BOOM Power on the disposal of five consented projects over the past six months, including:
• the sale of the Firsfield Solar Farm in West Suffolk and the Osgodby Solar Farm in North Yorkshire, with a combined capacity of 90 MW, to Enray Power;
• the sale of the 22 MW New Hall Solar Farm in West Yorkshire and the 49.9MW Low Farm Solar Farm to Downing; and
• the sale of the 530+ MWp East Yorkshire Solar Farm to Ampyr Solar.
The East Yorkshire Solar Farm is the largest of the sites having secured its consent via a Development Consent Order (DCO) – the first DCO secured by the BOOM Power team and the third solar NSIP to be granted a DCO in 2025.
It also marks the second DCO project disposal on which TLT has advised in the past 12 months, having also advised on the sale of the large DCO project Gate Burton, located in Lincolnshire, to EDF Renewables in July 2025.
The TLT team advising BOOM Power was led by Kay Hobbs, Corporate Future Energy Partner, with support from Mark Braude, Partner, and Andrée Parker, Managing Associate, in Tax; and Tom Lawrence, Senior Associate; and Callum Jones, Legal Solicitor Apprentice, in Corporate.
Corporate Future Energy Partner, Kay Hobbs, said: “Advising on this suite of disposals for BOOM Power in such a short timeframe speaks both to the strength of our relationship with BOOM and the strength of our Future Energy sector team at TLT. It is always a pleasure to work with the BOOM team whose passion for, and significant experience in, the sector is impressive and we’re proud to have been entrusted by BOOM with the sale of these projects, particularly their flagship East Yorkshire project. Being able to conclude transactions pragmatically at speed without compromising on quality is invaluable and TLT and BOOM make a great team on that front.”
Mark Hogan, Founder of BOOM Power added: “These projects embody BOOM Power’s ethos – technical rigour, environmental responsibility, and long-term energy impact. Each site represents a tangible contribution to the UK’s clean-energy future and a testament to the skill and dedication of our team.
“That these values and attributes are shared by TLT is key to the success of our relationship, and these transactions. We look forward to continuing to work with Kay and the TLT team and to further shared success in making a positive impact towards a cleaner, greener UK energy landscape.”
