He advises insolvency practitioners and office holders on a wide range of complex disputes arising out of corporate and personal insolvency, with a particular focus on asset recovery and claims brought for the benefit of creditors.
Kunal has experience acting on misfeasance claims, transactions at an undervalue, preferences and director conduct issues, as well as advising directors and individuals on insolvency‑related disputes and duties. He is regularly involved in strategically sensitive litigation, including investigations and enforcement action, and works closely with clients to develop pragmatic and commercially focused solutions.
Alongside his casework, Kunal is actively involved in knowledge‑sharing and training within the firm’s insolvency litigation practice, reflecting his strong technical grounding and commitment to developing the team’s contentious insolvency offering.

Experience
Kunal undertakes a significant volume of work for insolvency officeholders, particularly trustees in bankruptcy and liquidators, supporting them in investigating asset dissipation and potential antecedent transactions. His role includes reviewing financial information and bank statements, preparing transaction analyses, and drafting correspondence to third parties and former directors to obtain explanations and supporting evidence. He also assists officeholders in assessing recovery prospects, advising on next steps where cooperation is limited, and escalating matters where formal enforcement or litigation may be required. This work frequently involves coordinating with colleagues, Counsel, and external stakeholders, and requires careful handling of sensitive factual and personal issues. Overall, he provides practical, reliable support to officeholders seeking to maximise recoveries and discharge their duties efficiently and fairly.
Kunal regularly acts for the Official Receiver in liquidation and bankruptcy matters, focusing on asset recovery and enforcement. His work includes corresponding directly with debtors, issuing and responding to settlement demands and progressing recoveries for the benefit of insolvency estates. He plays a practical role in driving matters forward, balancing enforcement with proportionality, and ensuring recoveries are secured where possible through sustained engagement.
Kunal is closely involved in preparing insolvency litigation, particularly public‑interest claims brought by the Official Receiver. This includes liaising with Counsel, coordinating and circulating opinions, assessing prospects of success, and managing litigation funding structures. He prepares and progresses Conditional Fee Agreements and After‑the‑Event insurance arrangements, working with multiple stakeholders to ensure claims are properly funded and ready for issue.
