Trade finance

Trade finance, whilst complex, is often necessary to ensure the optimal use of working capital within the supply chain.
Our Banking & Finance team offers comprehensive advice on a broad range of trade and supply finance transactions, to both lenders and borrowers, in both a domestic and international setting.
We have experience of advising lenders, borrowers and trade counterparties.
Our team provides support with the negotiation of invoice discounting and factoring arrangements. We also provide advice on avalisation facilities, letters of credit, bank guarantees and other documentary credits. We act in connection with facilities arising under the UK Export Finance Bond Support Scheme and the UK Export Finance Working Capital Scheme.
The team has expertise in supply chain finance, including advising a well-known FTSE 100 retailer in connection with their various global supply chain finance facilities with a number of lenders.
Experience
- Providing a global clearing bank with a Northern Irish legal opinion on its supply chain finance documentation, undertaking a review of their supply chain documentation and taking into consideration complex true sale issues.
- Acting for an Indian bank in relation to a claim against three related borrowers for unpaid interest under loan facilities used to finance a steel trade finance deal.
