Jon has acted for the Insolvency Service for over 25 years dealing with the disqualification of directors and winding up companies on public interest grounds, his team regularly acts for the Official Receiver and insolvency practitioners in relation to breach of duty and antecedent claims against directors and he also represents directors faced with claims by office holders.
Jon has recently secured a multimillion pound settlement of a claim based on breach of duty on behalf of liquidators against former directors and connected companies and is currently representing a director facing a claim in excess of $100 million which involves a number of offshore jurisdictions.
Jon specialises in procurement challenges for both suppliers and contracting authorities. He dealt with one of the first procurement cases heard by the Court of Appeal, a wide ranging and high profile challenge to a procurement decision of national significance by the Legal Aid Agency representing a firm of solicitors affected by the decision, a multi-national business as an interested in party in a challenge to an NHS decision relating to a logistics contract worth over £700 million and latterly a challenge to a Government department’s time critical logistics contract.
Jon has recently been involved in defending a number of high value procurement claims on behalf of authorities such as Greater Manchester Police and the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime and is working closely with a Central Government Department in respect of high value contractual claims relating to products supplied to the Department.
Jon is the Chairman of Manchester Law Society's Civil Litigation Committee and is independently recognised as an expert in the field of Dispute Resolution by Chambers UK and is recommended as a leading individual for Dispute Resolution and Local Government by Legal 500.
