Turon Miah

Turon is a Legal Director in the financial services, disputes and investigations team and has extensive experience of financial services litigation and contentious insolvency work.

He advises financial institutions including banks, asset finance providers, invoice finance providers and private lenders. He specialises in high value and complex litigation and security enforcement.

Turon also acts for insolvency practitioners and can advise all stakeholders in any insolvency procedure.

Turon has over 16 years of experience and is able to offer clients comprehensive and commercial advice especially where there is cross-over between financial services and insolvency.

Experience

  • Advising an ad hoc creditors committee in a US Chapter 11 bankruptcy of a crypto currency exchange owed in excess of USD$1.6 billion.
  • Advising a debt purchaser owning debts with a face value in excess of £1 billion and assisting in negotiating documents on the debt purchaser joining a Scheme of Arrangement proposed by an FCA regulated consumer lender.
  • Advising a retail bank as regards an asset finance fraud perpetrated by a customer causing the bank, as an asset finance provider, losses of £18m and exposing the bank to other separate claims for the provision of banking services to that customer.
  • Advising a retail bank as regards ownership of funds of circa £5m held in its account for a customer in the ticketing business where competing claims for the funds made by the Administrators of the customer and festival organisers alleging a trust over the funds.
  • Advising a retail bank as regards a claim advanced by an IVA Supervisor of thousands of IVAs alleging breaches of DISP rules and other causes of action seeking losses up to £100m.
  • Supervising separate teams of junior lawyers providing legal and litigation services to a leading motor asset finance provider and a leading invoice finance provider.
