International banks

Led from our office in the heart of the City of London, with support from our other offices across the UK, we provide advice across all areas of law that can affect international financial institutions doing business in the UK or entering into transactions including lending arrangements based on English law.
Our experience includes working with clients on all types of finance transactions ranging from bilateral to syndicated loans, asset backed lending to real estate and project finance, acquisition finance to leveraged finance, structured finance to loan portfolio transactions including securitisation, and from trade finance to specialised ship finance. We can advise on the full range of documentation and transaction structuring in each of these specialised areas of banking and finance.
Our prowess in financial services regulation, litigation and contentious matters has been a key factor in our rapid growth within the sector over the last few years as we meet the new challenges faced by our banking and financial services clients with increasing regulation and challenge by counterparties and customers.
In 2023, Paul Gair, a partner in our London office's Banking and Financial Services Litigation team and co-Head of TLT's India Group, has again been named in the International A-list by the India Business Law Journal (IBLJ). TLT has also been recognised as a ‘leading firm’ by IBLJ in 2023. The report ranks TLT as a top ‘regional and specialist’ firm for India-related matters, recognising TLT’s sustained efforts in this specialist field as well as its progression and growth.
Over the years, we have created strong working relationships with our clients across jurisdictions, the regulators and key industry bodies such as UK Finance, Arab Bankers Association and the Association of Indian Banks in the UK.
