TLT secures ice rink for the Queen's House in Greenwich
The Queen's House is an art gallery located in a former Royal Palace situated in the Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site in London, alongside the Royal Observatory Greenwich, Cutty Sark and the National Maritime Museum.
The agreement with Arena Ice was particularly complex, requiring specialist understanding of the site and RMG’s business to draft and agree the contract within tight timescales.
The Queen’s House is of great historical importance, while the majority of the buildings are listed and the grounds themselves are an ancient scheduled monument and subject to a number of stringent rules and regulations regarding their use.
The TLT team included commercial partner Susan Honeyands and solicitor Jaskeerat Sanghera.
Eleanor Harris, director, visitor experience and enterprise at Royal Museums Greenwich, says: “This was a very complicated project, but something that we’ve been extremely passionate about from the start. It adds a whole new dimension to our already well-known attractions and has enabled us to attract new audiences to Greenwich, at a normally off peak season.
"The ice rink has been a huge success attracting thousands of skaters, and we will build on this next year for the corporate party market too. I am indebted to Susan and the team for their rapid contract support.”
Susan Honeyands, partner at TLT, says: “Heritage locations like the Queen’s House are incredible assets, but the sector is under increasing pressure to find ways to create new experiences – places that families and businesses can create memories and try something different.
“We’re seeing a lot of leisure operators looking to expand their services into new areas, beyond their core attractions. Executed well, as has been done here, this can quickly transform an existing location into a multi-service operation with mass appeal and multiple revenue streams.”
