Construction disputes

We act on a range of projects, from office blocks to wind farms in the UK and abroad. This involves working alongside our clients to understand their commercial needs and devising strategies to achieve them.

We regularly work with building developers and users including global brands, public bodies and housing associations. We also represent national and regional contractors in the construction, energy and infrastructure industries. This means we have experience with all the major forms of construction and engineering contracts, from domestic JCT and NEC forms to FIDIC forms and bespoke agreements on international projects.

We regularly deal with disputes under PFI and similar structures, together with more conventional procurement routes, and our experience extends to complex multi-million pound cases, with multiple parties.

Experience

  • Acting for a major pets specialist in connection with a multi-million pound dispute following the manifestation of defects at the company's main distribution centre.
  • Advising a university in the Russell Group on delay, defects and extension of time issues on a project to provide a new centre for interdisciplinary research and training.
  • Advising the owner of a 12 turbine, 27.6MW windfarm on recovery of costs when defects/failure of transmission assets caused unauthorised disconnections of the facility.
