For people, planet and places
Our Impact strategy is guided by our values and powered by our people. It shapes how we run our business, support our colleagues, collaborate with clients and contribute to our communities.
Our 2025 Impact Report sets out our approach – focused on People, Planet and Places – and highlights the actions we’re taking to lead positive, meaningful and lasting change. It tracks our progress and holds us accountable to the commitments we’ve made.
This report celebrates our collective effort, but it’s also a call to action. We want to set the bar higher for the legal sector – to become more inclusive, sustainable and better for future generations.

Leadership insights: Growing with purpose
Our Impact strategy
We help clients tackle ESG challenges – from evolving regulation to stakeholder expectations – while unlocking opportunities for sustainable growth. We foster an inclusive culture where people feel supported and empowered. We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and achieving net-zero by 2040 through clear targets and collaboration. And we create lasting impact in our communities by giving time, sharing expertise and building resilient places.
People
Creating a culture where everyone can be their true self
We continue to be recognised for the inclusive and supportive workplace we’ve built – ranking in The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality, Top 30 Employers for Working Families, and Top 75 Employers for Social Mobility.
As part of our wellbeing efforts, we've trained line managers to equip them with the skills to better support colleagues through personal challenges. We also launched our ‘Breaking the Silence’ campaign to raise awareness of lesser-discussed mental health topics.
We’re opening doors to the legal profession through alternative career routes, apprenticeships and mentoring. We've launched a diversity access programme for early careers, have 47 solicitor apprentices and have had 10,800 student enrolments to date in our work experience programme.

Planet
Making sustainable choices and reaching net zero by 2040
We’ve surpassed our near-term Science-Based Targets initiative-verified target ahead of schedule, with our Scope 1 and 2 emissions now 93% lower than they were in 2019. We continue to work hard to make a significant indent on our Scope 3 emissions, which were down 14% over the last year.
We’re investing in high-integrity carbon removals and our partnership with Belmont Estate is something we’re hugely proud of. It’s now supporting 425,000m2 of nature recovery through rewilding, rewetting and biodiversity enhancement.
We’ve also moved to a new location in Edinburgh, with low-energy, all-electric design, BREEAM Excellent rating, SKA Silver-certified fit out, and an A EPC rating.

Places
Giving time, money and expertise to benefit our communities
Through paid volunteering leave, pro bono work and match funding, we make it easy for our colleagues to add value in their communities. This year, our colleagues gave 1,100+ hours in volunteering and donated over £30,000. As testament to this hard work, we’ve been upgraded from Silver to Gold for this year’s Payroll Giving Mark.
We’ve also strengthened our pro bono programme with Partner-level leads and local representatives coordinating efforts across offices. This year, 30 volunteers offered free legal advice at drop-in clinics including the South Westminster Legal Advice Centre and St Paul’s Advice Centre in Bristol.
We now have over £245,000 under management with the Quartet Foundation, who fund inclusive community development across the West of England.

ESG impact for clients
Helping clients chart a path to sustainable growth
We’re invested in helping our clients to drive sustainable action in their own organisations, industries, and communities. This year, we launched an ESG ambassador programme, making our expertise and stance more visible, and delivered new insights through events, networks and change programmes.
We’ve also strengthened our position as one of the UK’s leading practices advising on complex future energy, infrastructure, transport, public law and planning projects – from national EV charging networks to large-scale renewable developments. By combining our legal expertise with practical tools and shared insights, we help clients anticipate change, respond with confidence and unlock opportunities for long-term, sustainable growth.
If you have any questions about any of the initiatives in this report or would like to discuss how our ESG expertise can support your organisation’s ambitions, please get in touch.
