Delays and more restrictions for Scottish hospitality venues
However, proposals to allow sports stadia to reopen and entertainment sites and cultural venues - such as theatres and live music venues - have been pushed back. The position will be reviewed in three weeks’ time, with potential reopening then being 5th October.
This will come as a blow for the theatres, stadia and music venues who genuinely fear for their long term future.
New rules from Scottish Government will further impact the licensed Trade.
The First Minister was clear that she wants everyone to voluntarily comply immediately, but the law will change on Monday 14 September, bringing:
1. Tighter restrictions to apply to group meetings - now a maximum of 6 people from 2 households can meet
(only those over the age of 12 year count). This applies inside and out and to hospitality venues like bars, restaurants and beer gardens (see exemption for weddings/funerals below).2. Face coverings now mandatory inside hospitality venues:
(a) for customers moving around i.e. when not seated at a table.
(b) all staff.
One simplification has seen weddings, civil partnerships and funerals permitted, with 20 people at the ceremony and 20 also now permitted at the wedding breakfast/ funeral wake provided it is in a regulated hospitality venue e.g. cannot be at home or in a church hall.
