TLT appointed to assume licensing files following closure of Scottish law firm
Following the closure of law firm Brunton Miller on 31 October 2025, the Judicial Factor has appointed TLT to assume the licensing files of the former practice with immediate effect.
The designation of this responsibility to TLT recognises the reputation of its Scottish licensing team, which is the largest practice of its kind in Scotland.
Over the past year, the team has continued to achieve exceptional recognition in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories, securing top-tier Band 1 rankings for 2026 in both directories. Head of Licensing (Scotland) Stephen McGowan and Partner Caroline Loudon have also maintained their Band 1 individual rankings in both listings.
Stephen McGowan, Partner and Head of Licensing (Scotland) at TLT LLP said: “The sudden closure of Brunton Miller will have come as a shock to affected licensing clients. My focus now that TLT has been appointed is to meet with and look after all the clients as quickly as I can to provide reassurance and certainty that they will be taken care of. My team and I are now going through the process of contacting all the affected clients and the various licensing board clerks to ensure all those concerned are supported and represented.”
Any licensing client affected by the closure of Brunton Miller can now contact Stephen directly at stephen.mcgowan@tlt.com or on 07879848352.
