Regulatory Advice and Prosecutions

We help operators of licensed premises to comply with the relevant regulatory regimes governing their businesses.
We act for a broad range of clients licensed under the licensing acts, ranging from pubs and clubs to hotels and large event organisers.
We advise businesses on a variety of regulatory matters, including fire risk assessments, trading standards issues and noise abatement notices. Where required, we provide advice and guidance in relation to prosecutions for regulatory breaches.
We look at the commercial realities of running a business, and how the regulatory responsibilities impact upon them. Our approach is geared towards ensuring your commercial interests are protected as best as possible.
Experience
- Providing specialist legal advice from a licensing and practical perspective on proposed legislation granting greater protection to shopworkers when, for example, they refuse to sell alcoholic beverages.
- Advising a pub company in connection with various health and safety and regulatory matters including: food safety and hygiene; gas and electrical safety; anti-social behaviour; noise; statutory compliance testing; and Equality Act compliance.
- Advising on health and safety compliance issues. Recent advice has included advising on a local authority investigation into an alleged carbon monoxide exposure in a pub kitchen.
