Nick Evans joins TLT as partner placing the firm at the helm of infrastructure, planning, public law and future energy in the UK
Nick’s appointment is central to TLT’s strategic plans to grow its infrastructure, planning, future energy and public law capabilities. Joining TLT from Broadfield (formerly BDB Pitmans), Nick’s appointment will allow the firm to continue to meet growing client demand following the UK Government investing in infrastructure and clean energy to unlock growth.
Nick is the fourth new partner to join this practice area in the last two months, following on from Mustafa Latif-Aramesh, Duncan O’Connor and Richard Marsh.
Nick has over 20 years’ experience across energy, infrastructure and the public sector, with a particular focus on the transport sector, including significant involvement in rail and light rail schemes in cities across the UK.
He has a strong track record advising environmental regulators such as the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales and has played a key role in major infrastructure projects such as HS2. Nick has promoted development consent orders, transport and works act orders, harbour revisions orders and compulsory purchase orders for a range of transport, energy and environmental bodies. He has secured consents for railways, highways, harbours, electricity transmission lines, generating stations, interconnectors and flood defence schemes.
Nick is also one of the few lawyers in the country to be registered as a “roll A” parliamentary agent and has promoted more Bills in recent years than any other practitioner in the field. Nick’s understanding of parliamentary procedures will be essential for advising clients on private and hybrid bills.
Nick’s in-depth understanding of public law, the promotion of major infrastructure projects, and related planning and environmental law issues will strengthen TLT’s stronghold on the future energy and public sector markets.
Nick’s appointment follows the recent announcement that TLT will be welcoming 33 lawyers, including eight partners, to this practice areas throughout 2025. The group will bring the total number of lawyers specialising in these practice areas to more than 150, making it one of the largest groups of its kind in the UK.
Maria Connolly, Partner and Head of Future Energy and Real Estate at TLT commented: “Nick’s appointment reinforces our broad capabilities in future energy, planning, infrastructure and public law. As a parliamentary agent and a specialist in the transport sector, Nick will be bringing valuable specialist knowledge to this practice area.
“With the government pledging to continue investing in energy and infrastructure for growth and the regulatory landscape in a constant state of flux, Nick’s expertise will be central to us helping our clients navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
Nick Evans, Partner said: “This is a pivotal moment for the future energy and infrastructure sectors, offering an innumerable number of opportunities for us to support public bodies as they navigate change. TLT has a unique position in both the future energy and public law arenas, boasting some of the most talented lawyers in the UK and advising on some of the largest and most complex future energy and transport projects in the country. I am looking forward to contributing to the team’s continued growth and success.”
