Legal Director

Emily acts for major lenders in complex and high value litigation.
She advises on a wide range of matters arising in commercial banking and recovery disputes to include security issues, breach of mandate, undue influence, misrepresentation, fraud and reputational issues. She is experienced at negotiating commercial settlements in relation to sensitive and reputational cases on behalf of banking clients. Emily is highly regarded by clients for her proactive and pragmatic approach
Emily also acts for a variety of fixed charge receivers in relation to a wide range of contentious and non-contentious receivership matters. She is an Associate member of NARA (The Association of Property and Fixed Charge Receivers) and sits on NARA’s Council.
Emily has developed a particular specialism in advising both lenders and receivers in relation to agricultural security and recoveries.
Emily joined TLT in 2009 and trained with the firm, becoming an associate in 2016 and legal director in 2019.

Experience
- Acting for a lender in relation to its security over a school. Emily successfully negotiated a settlement between the lender, the charitable trust which owned the school and the Department for Education.
- Acting for receivers appointed over a rural estate. This included dealing with high value chattels (antiques and paintings), livestock, grazing licences, shooting and fishing rights, title issues, agricultural tenancies and occupiers.
- Advising a major bank on its policy surrounding agricultural security.
- Acting for an overseas wealth bank in respect of its portfolio of security in the UK.
