Rikesh Gungah

Rikesh is an Senior Associate in the Competition, Regulatory and Trade team.

He has experience of assisting with investigations and criminal proceedings by established enforcement bodies including the National Crime Agency, Serious Fraud Office, and the Environment Agency.

He also has recent experience of working on two high-profile public inquiries. Prior to joining TLT, Rikesh worked as a Data Analyst for one of the Big 4 companies, within the Financial Services team. Rikesh has been seconded to two large water companies and has provided advice and support across a range of regulatory compliance issues. This includes the delivery of 'Failure to Prevent' fraud training under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023.

Rikesh is a UKELA SW Committee Member.

Experience

  • Participated in a high-profile public inquiry, governed by the Inquiries Act 2005. as document review manager, responsible for the review and analysis of documents on behalf of the client, to be disclosed to the inquiry. Accountable for the quality control of documents reviewed by a project team according to the inquiry’s terms of reference and the inquiry rules 2006.  
  • Supported senior lawyers and counsel resulting in the successful defence of a former finance director at a large multinational company in relation to a fraud prosecution, brought by the SFO.
  • Assisting a large water company on a client secondment basis with two significant regulatory investigations which led to record financial penalties being awarded.   
  • Involvement in a high-profile litigation case involving fraud, embezzlement, corruption, money laundering, and currency regulation issues. Advised the client upon the instruction of expert witnesses.  
  • Contributed to a high-profile compliance review covering supply chain issues relating to the Modern Day Slavery Act.  
  • Participation with an investigation concerning anti-bribery and corruption issues in relation to the UK Bribery Act.
