Alastair specialises in information law, primarily data protection but also advise on FOI requests and cyber security matters. He is CIPP/E certified.
Alastair helps clients process personal data in a compliant way and thus avoid the regulatory enforcement action, reputational damage and drops in commercial value that can arise from breaches of data protection law, in particular security incidents.

Experience
- Advised a medtech provider on the data protection implications of new developments to its patient analysis solution, involving sensitive data types and nuanced interaction between the service provider and its customers.
- Spent six months on secondment to the legal privacy team of a multi-national telecommunications business. Advised on a wide range of communication and technology products, in particular IoT solutions. This role involved advising on complex international transfer networks; negotiating data processing and data sharing agreements; handling data protection breaches and advising on direct marketing requirements.
- Advised the international data transfers policy team within the Department of Culture, Media & Sport.
