TLT appoints insolvency litigator to support UK and Indian clients
Her experience includes advising insolvency practitioners, directors and boards of directors on contentious insolvency, advisory and general commercial litigation matters. She advises clients on fraud and asset recovery, often with an international and cross-border element.
Kanika also specialises in Indian insolvency issues, including under the Indian Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 and the enforcement of Indian debt recovery judgments in the UK.
She was the first foreign lawyer to be invited to present to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India and was recently instructed in relation to the high profile liquidation of an Indian company involving cross border issues of recognition.
The appointment supports TLT's growing UK-wide banking and restructuring team, which provides a full range of contentious and non-contentious expertise.
James Forsyth, partner and head of restructuring and insolvency at TLT, says: "Kanika is extremely well regarded by her clients and peers and is an excellent insolvency litigator. Her areas of practice and expertise complement our specialisms immeasurably, particularly in financial services and India, and I am looking forward to working with Kanika to support our clients in her specialist areas."
Kanika Kitchlu-Connolly, partner at TLT, says: "TLT is extremely well regarded for its long-standing relationships with clients and its expert lawyers, many of whom are ranked across the UK. It is clear that TLT is actively expanding and I am looking forward to contributing to and being part of that growth by supporting our clients here in the UK and in India."
TLT is consistently recognised as a leading adviser in India (India Business Law Journal) with recent high profile cases including a £1.145bn debt recovery case for 13 Indian banks and representing the Indian government in the long-running Hyderabad funds case against Pakistan.
Kanika joins Andrew Lockerbie (partner) and Sarah Hilton (solicitor) who returned to TLT's banking and restructuring team earlier this year.
