TLT strengthens banking team with recruitment of Scottish banking heavyweight
National law firm TLT has recruited leading banking partner Euan Cluness to help lead the growth of its banking offering in Scotland. Working with TLT’s national banking and restructuring team, Euan will be based TLT’s Edinburgh office.
Joining TLT from Addleshaw Goddard Euan brings over a decade of experience advising banks and borrowers on some of the most complex and high-profile debt finance transactions in the UK.
Boasting in-depth experience in corporate lending, acquisition finance and debt restructuring, Euan has advised many of the UK’s high street banks including NatWest, RBS, HSBC, Barclays and Virgin Money together with a number of non-bank lenders and well-known corporate borrowers. Euan also has extensive experience working across a number of different sectors including leisure, food and drink; and construction.
As well as being recognised as a “Leader in his field” in Legal 500 rankings, Euan is one of the rare go-to banking experts with experience in asset-finance lending, reflecting his unique and market-leading position in the banking sector.
At TLT, Euan will work closely with Glasgow based banking partner Douglas Gourlay and the existing team, providing strategic advice on corporate and leveraged finance transactions to some of the firm’s key clients, complimenting the existing strong real estate finance practice.
Euan’s appointment follows a string of recent partner hires, which reinforce TLT’s position as a financial services and banking heavyweight with some of the best legal talent in the UK. These have included the appointments of financial services regulation expert and partner Amanda Hulme, project finance specialist and partner Victoria Quek and financial services disputes partner Roger Potgieter.
Peter Carney, partner in TLT’s banking and restructuring team commented: “Euan’s appointment hugely strengthens the range of the banking offering in Scotland and compliments Douglas’s practice with its focus on real estate finance. His in-depth understanding of the market relationships and his expertise and experience in the corporate and leveraged space as well as asset based lending, will be instrumental in supporting our clients in what is an ever-changing and ever-evolving landscape.”
Euan Cluness, partner at TLT said: “Having acted for lenders and borrowers in the Scottish corporate and leveraged finance market for almost twenty years, I was very impressed by TLT's client roster, approach and ambition. I'm joining a strong team in Scotland and across the UK at a very exciting time for the firm as they look to build upon an already substantial growth period.
“I was also attracted by TLT’s unique culture and values, which I feel match my own and are a rare find in the legal industry.”
