Danielle O'Brien

Danielle is a Senior Associate in the Projects, Infrastructure and Construction team.

She is a non-contentious lawyer with a wealth of knowledge on construction and energy projects. She has worked with a wide spectrum of clients, including, private sector developers, investment funds, lenders, local authorities, national government departments, higher and further education sector, contractors, and sub-contractors.

Danielle is experienced in managing projects from inception to completion, advising clients on the most suitable construction procurement methods, through to negotiating and completing full suites of construction documentation.  She is skilled in drafting JCT, NEC and FIDIC forms of contract, bespoke contracts, consultant appointments, collateral warranties, bonds and parent company guarantees. Her work in the future energy sector also includes drafting and negotiating other forms of contract, such as, EPCs, O&Ms, asset management and project management agreements.

Since joining TLT LLP, her focus has been on advising clients in the clean energy sector, across a range of technologies, including, solar, wind and battery energy storage. She was also involved in providing legal advice to the South Wales Industrial Cluster for several years prior to joining TLT LLP.

Experience

  • Advising on and negotiating various construction contracts for a 14MW onshore wind project in Scotland.  Preparing the due diligence reporting and liaising with the lenders to secure finance for the same project. 
  • Drafting EPC and O&M Contracts for a large-scale solar project in Northern Ireland.
  • Reviewing and amending terms and conditions for a large European solar developer to role out across its various projects. 
  • Undertaking due diligence for lender clients on a variety of energy projects (solar, battery and wind), being cognisant of lender requirements and advising on the bankability of the project documents. 
  • Alumna of the 2021 – 2022 cohort of the Future Generations Leadership Academy - an ambitious and innovative programme led by the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, which brings together partners from Wales’ public, private and voluntary sector, collaborating to train young individuals from all corners of Wales in leadership development and the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
