Infrastructure & energy

We have a long record of advising on UK infrastructure projects, in particular in the energy and transport sectors.
We advise and negotiate contracting frameworks used by institutional employers such as Network Rail and the Highways Agency, the major civil engineering forms of contract such as ICC conditions, NEC3 and FIDIC as well as bespoke concession arrangements for major infrastructure.
We advise funders on project finance for wind, solar, hydro and other renewable energy schemes. We advise energy developers and suppliers, contractors and land owners on energy projects of all technologies.
The experience in the team covers a vast array of major infrastructure projects from ports and harbours, rail and railway, tram systems, tunnels and bridges and power generation in projects throughout the world.
We're experienced contract negotiators and construction contract users for energy and infrastructure contracts.
We adapt complex contract arrangements to suit clients' needs, for example, by using different NEC3 main options to provide the optimum procurement solution for the clients' differing needs. We negotiated complex contract arrangements for major roads maintenance and repair contract and for rail infrastructure projects. We've prepared and negotiated contracts for tolling equipment on one of the country's major toll roads.
Our contentious experience includes several substantial disputes worth many millions of pounds on major infrastructure projects, usually arising from the time and cost consequences of substantial delays to completion. We're recognised as a leading practice in the energy sector, advising numerous funders and developers on schemes throughout the UK. As well as energy suppliers and funders, team members have advised some of the country's leading infrastructure contractors on transport and energy projects.
We have qualified lawyers in all three UK legal jurisdictions.
