Temporary Event Notices

We help licence holders looking to extend their hours for licensable activities on a temporary basis. The process is known as TENs in England and Wales, or occasional licences/extensions in Scotland. Both are the way premises can extend their hours on a temporary basis to boost business or for one-off events like major sporting events.
We act for a range of clients requiring advice and expertise on applying for TENs/occasional licences, in particular premises with existing premises licences.
We have experience in advising on applying for and attending hearings in relation to TENs/occasionals and negotiations with both the police and environmental protection in their capacity as objectors to TENs.
We can help businesses with their TENs/occasionals application for one-off events, but also in relation to the tactical use of these for other purposes, such as in relation to new licence applications or variations.
Experience
- Advised on the opening of a high end Spanish themed restaurant in Glasgow, "The Spanish Butcher" including securing temporary licences for a duration pending snagging works and amendments to approvals and warrants, whilst at the same time securing a more permanent grant of the main licence.
- Application related to a convenience store with a large alcohol display operating under the Nisa Local brand in a hearing for a Provisional Premises Licence. 13 separate parties objected to both the grant of the Provisional Premises Licence and Temporary Licences but the application was granted.
