Acting for Abdul Majid / Judicial Review Deposit Return Scheme in a challenge to the fixing of prices for the return of glass, plastic and metal packaging under the deposit return scheme a landmark piece of Scottish Legislation. The introduction of the fee affects every retailer in Scotland and in particular has a negative financial impact on circa 2000 small grocer shops. We acted in the test case on behalf of the Scottish Grocers federation of over 1500 unit ( including Spar , Coop, Scotmid and G1)
Advised Scottish-based future energy development company, Intelligent Land Investments Group P.L.C (ILI), on the completion of the sale of two landmark future energy projects, which will support the development of renewable energy in the UK. These included the sale of the Red John Pumped Storage Hydro scheme located on the banks of Loch Ness to Statkraft – Europe’s largest producer of renewable power, founded in Norway – and the sale of its 50MW battery storage project Balnacraig, Alness, Highlands to EDP Renewables (part of Euronext-listed multinational, EDP Group).
