General regulatory

We specialise in advising clients on regulatory matters in the consumer credit, mortgages, retail banking and retail investment / wealth management sectors over the entire product lifecycle, from authorisations and VOPs, product design and release, change-based legal and regulatory review, through to remediation and redress, advising across the regulatory perimeter and on senior management functions and resourcing requirements.
Our team combines lawyers who have worked at the regulator and in senior roles (including non-legal) in the sectors we focus on. We combine this knowledge of the commercial drivers for their business and of being in their shoes in engaging with regulators to deliver technical financial regulation expertise with market-leading commercial insights.
Our specialist practice is focused on four key areas:
- regulated consumer credit (secured and unsecured);
- regulated mortgages;
- payment services (including savings/retail bank accounts); and
- regulated consumer products (including insurance and investments).
Experience
- Advised April Mortgages and ColCap on innovative new mortgages products involving (respectively) a “rolling” fixed rate product with downward-ratcheted rates based on LTV decreases over the lifetime of the product, and a buy-to-let product involving interest offset and borrow-back features.
