TLT again ranked among top global clean energy advisers
The global league table puts TLT at number six for the number of M&A deals completed, based on the firm having advised on 21 deals during 2018, although there were a number of additional deals the firm was unable to disclose due to confidentiality.
The firm was also ranked fifteenth for the number of project finance deals, advising on 12 deals worth £184m.
Notable projects included advising leading fund NextEnergy Capital on its first foray into co-located technologies, with its acquisition of two co-located solar and battery storage projects from Battery Energy Storage Solutions and a consortium of private equity EIS investors. The team also advised Thrive Renewables on its joint venture with Aura Power, as well as Blackfinch Investments and Santander on a number of on-shore wind farm acquisitions and re-financings, including a 6.4MW 1ROC accredited project in Scotland.
Gary Roscoe, banking and finance partner at TLT, says: "The clean energy market continues to show significant potential and we are seeing some very interesting developments in the wake of regulatory and subsidy changes. TLT is proud to play a role in further promoting the development of clean energy projects and our leading position is testament to the great work done across the whole team."
Kay Hobbs, corporate partner at TLT, adds: "The UK energy sector is currently undergoing major transformation and disruption, but TLT remains at the forefront of the sector with experts across the board who are able to help shape the future of the UK energy market. We are delighted to once again be ranked amongst the world's leading clean energy M&A advisers."
TLT's clean energy team is based across all three UK legal jurisdictions of England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The firm acts for all parties including developers, banks, equity investors, contractors and suppliers and has advised government departments on the implementation and operation of energy efficiency and renewables policy.
The global league tables produced by Clean Energy Pipeline rank the most active investors, law firms, financial advisers and project debt finance arrangers in the global clean energy sector.
