TLT bolsters employment team with retail specialist
She was previously head of employment at JMW and joins a growing team at TLT which operates across all three UK legal jurisdictions of England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Liz has a broad range of experience in contentious and non-contentious employment law issues, including significant experience in resisting complex tribunal claims, providing strategic advice to boards on matters such as collective redundancy and TUPE, in particular around service provision changes. She also advises on executive terminations and board disputes.
Liz is a specialist in the retail & consumer goods and hospitality sectors, with clients including Home Bargains, Online Gadgets, Official 4 Fashions, and pharmaceutical and technology brands.
Stuart McBride, partner and national head of employment at TLT, says: “Liz is an exceptional lawyer and her experience matches that of the team, particularly our expertise in retail. The retail sector remains the largest private sector employer in the UK and faces a growing number of employment issues. Liz’s arrival means that we can continue to offer market-leading support to our clients.”
Liz Cotton, partner at TLT, says: “I was particularly drawn to TLT’s reputation in the retail & consumer goods, hospitality and digital sectors, and its breadth of experience in these markets. I am buoyed by the idea that I can proactively support my clients as their businesses scale and issues evolve, by working closely with my colleagues across the UK. TLT is a growing law firm with a reputation for being a great employer and I am really excited to be joining the team.”
TLT’s retail clients include Sainsbury’s, Boohoo.com and WHSmith.
Other recent appointments in TLT’s UK-wide employment team include partner Paula Cole in Manchester, legal director Leeanne Armstrong in Belfast and solicitor Fraser Vandal in Glasgow. The team is ranked a Band 1 National Leader in the independent legal directory, Chambers 2020.
