TLT strengthens employment team with new partner hire in Birmingham
A specialist employment lawyer, Charlie brings over 20 years of experience advising employers and senior executives on a full range of employment law issues.
For many years a top ranked employment practitioner in the legal directories, Charlie has worked in Birmingham throughout his career qualifying and spending 12 years at Pinsent Masons followed by a further 12 years at Shoosmiths.
His extensive experience includes advising employers across a range of sectors, on matters such as large-scale restructuring and outsourcing projects, senior executive hires and departures, and complex disciplinary and grievance matters.
Charlie’s arrival supports TLT’s commitment to invest in the growth of its Birmingham office following the opening of TLT in Birmingham in December 2023. The firm continues to bolster its presence in the region with key hires to its team, including the recent appointments of Jacob Cork as partner in the tax and estates team and five legal directors across the financial services disputes and investigations, corporate, commercial and commercial dispute resolution practices.
As a further demonstration of its growth ambitions, the firm is shortly due to take additional office space at its base in 2 Chamberlain Square, reflecting TLT’s ongoing commitment to invest in the team in the Midlands.
Mark Elder, partner and head of location in Birmingham commented: “It’s been an outstanding first sixth months for TLT in Birmingham with the team welcoming some of the best legal talent in the city. We have also recently leased additional floor space in our office building to accommodate new senior hires, a testament to the growth we’re seeing and the level of interest there is in our proposition. It’s great to have Charlie as part of the team.”
Commenting on the appointment, partner and head of TLT’s employment team Stuart McBride said: “With so many regulatory changes on the horizon for employers, as well as a shift in working patterns driven by flexible working and changes in employee priorities, companies are having to lean on their legal advisers more than ever before. Charlie’s appointment enhances our already strong employment law specialist offering, helping our clients prepare for those challenges ahead, and expanding our growing footprint in Birmingham. I know Charlie will be highly valued by the clients he supports and advises.”
Commenting on his appointment Charlie Rae said: “I’m delighted to join TLT at such an exciting time in the firm’s development. My decision to join was inspired by the firm’s undoubted commitment to fully establish itself in Birmingham and in recent years I couldn’t help but notice the positive feedback about the firm, and the accolades it has achieved. It’s been such a long time since a firm with the profile and ambition of TLT seriously invested in the Birmingham market and did so whilst remaining true to the values that made the firm successful in the first place. I made a move to TLT to support its future growth plans, an irresistible opportunity.”
