TLT strengthens national corporate practice
Whitewood, who joins from Simmons & Simmons’ Bristol office, brings a wealth of early-stage and fast growth investment experience to the team, and his appointment comes at a time of increasing growth in this sector across the South West. Whitewood was recognised in the 2020 edition of the Legal 500 as a key lawyer for venture capital.
TLT partner Andrew Webber, recently appointed as the firm’s new UK head of corporate, says:
“Dan’s appointment is part of our ambitious strategy to continue to rapidly grow the corporate team at all of our locations, adding senior expertise as well as resource for mid-market transactional work across the UK.
“Dan’s investment experience not only strengthens our private equity capability but also our support for early-stage and fast growth companies and their investors, with his digital and technology experience fitting well with our sector approach.
The growth of the corporate team has mirrored the success of the wider firm, with expansion across the UK and a doubling in revenue over the last four years.
In the last eighteen months, the firm has made strategic appointments in Belfast, Glasgow and London with the hire of partners Andrew Jennings, Damien Bechelli and Patrick Somers, and legal director Kirsty Smith. Bristol corporate lawyer Nina Searle was also promoted to partner in May of last year. John Wood, the firm’s previous head of corporate, has been elected as its new managing partner with effect from 1 April.
Dan Whitewood, legal director at TLT says:
“I’m really excited to be joining TLT corporate at this time of rapid growth for the national corporate practice and the wider firm.
“TLT’s corporate team has been recognised for numerous awards and listed for its exceptional lawyers, but more importantly I’m excited to be part of a firm that’s genuinely focused on pushing the boundaries and coming up with new ideas to support its clients in their focus sectors”.
TLT is a proud supporter of initiatives encouraging regional entrepreneurial development, and is currently working with the South West Creative Technology Network to provide legal services to its members, and has most recently partnered with TechSPARK to deliver a pioneering programme to help catalyse investment into fast-growing start-ups in the West of England.
The team recently won Corporate Deal of the Year at the 2019 Business Leader Awards and Tech Dealmaker of the Year 2019 at the Go Tech Awards.
