Whilst Monika has a particular interest in the transport sector, she also has a range of experience acting on energy and commercial projects. She has advised extensively on all aspects of the authorisation process for development consent orders (DCOs) guiding clients through all stages from project inception, through consultation and examination, to implementation. Her experience involves advising on project strategy, complex environmental matters, negotiating third party agreements, drafting DCOs, as well as all aspects of examination support. She also advises on projects requiring authorisation under the Transport and Works Act 1992. Notable clients include National Grid, National Highways, Transport for London and Luton Borough Council.
In addition to her major projects practice, Monika also advises on matters under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 including providing advice to individuals on planning application matters and to developers on issues such as stopping up orders and section 106 agreements, including their drafting and negotiating. She also has experience advising local authorities and public regulatory bodies on a range of public law issues and procurement.
Monika has been working in this sector for over 11 years and during this time she has been a key member of various project teams that she has worked on, leading on many aspects. Most recently she has been a lead contact for the A46 Coventry Junctions project leading on the legal aspects of examination. She also played a lead role in the overall project team on the Manston Airport DCO, guiding the team from inception all the way through to the successful grant of the first ever airport DCO.

- Advising London Luton Airport Limited on all aspects of the London Luton Airport Expansion DCO including in relation to complex EIA matters relating to carbon emissions.
- Acting on several projects for National Highways (previously Highways England and the Highways Agency) including the A46 Coventry Junctions (Walsgrave), the Lower Thames Crossing, the M25 Junction 10 Improvement, the M42 Junction 6 Improvement, the A19 Downhill Lane, and the A19 Testo’s Junction.
- Advising Transport for Greater Manchester on various issues related to HS2.
- Advising a public regulatory body in relation to its statutory duties.
