She is an accredited specialist in construction law by Law Society of Scotland, and has particular expertise in renewables, infrastructure and heavy engineering.
Katherine specialises in project advisory, dispute avoidance and dispute resolution. She has extensive experience in all aspects of dispute resolution, including arbitration, adjudication, litigation and mediation on international and domestic projects.
She also provides front end assistance, advising on, drafting and negotiating construction contracts, appointments,. specialist subcontracts and security documents. She is familiar with all standard forms (particularly NEC and FIDIC) as well as bespoke EPC contracts.
Katherine is regularly instructed on a range of matters including infrastructure, road building, rail, hydro electric, wind farming, commercial office space, waste treatment, process plant, commercial and residential developments. She has spent time on site on international projects, providing strategic advice to clients, and working bringing and defending claims in local courts and using ADR.

Experience
- Katherine has recently spent time on secondment with a renewable energy developer, working with the BESS, wind and solar teams. She was involved in drafting and negotiating contract documents, providing project advice and claims support.
- Katherine has been advising a contractor involved in delivery of HS2 packages. She has helped to negotiate subcontracts and appointments, as well as providing advice on the NEC suite of contracts.
- Acting in a multi-million pound dispute concerning a major public sector project in Scotland procured under NEC Option C. Advising on defects, design liability and delay.
