From being a first mover in solar to having advised on over a third of all UK solar projects, we've been involved in some of the most innovative UK projects to date.

Acting for developers, funders, investors, local authorities, landowners and high profile joint ventures, our involvement in the sector spans commercial solar farms, domestic and commercial rooftop installations to newer technologies such as carport solar and multi-technology projects that look to combine solar with other assets such as battery storage and EV charging points.

We have also supported clients as they expand their market reach. For example, Blackfinch Investments on its first foray into renewables development – a 6MW subsidy-free solar farm  - and Thrive Renewables on its first commercial rooftop solar initiative – Thrive joined forced with Olympus Power, developing a new financing framework which provides the funding for Olympus to install hundreds of commercial solar arrays, and Korkia on its entry to the UK market - a partnership with Evolution Power to fund the development of an initial pipeline of 1GW of clean power projects.

Our team of experts provide cross-jurisdictional advice across the project lifecycle on both a single site and volume basis in relation to finance, real estate and planning (including the DCO process for solar), commercial, corporate, construction and private wire and commercial PPAs. We also have particular expertise in advising on the disposal and acquisition of portfolios of subsidised and subsidy-free operational, consented and pre-consented assets.

Highlights

  • Cero Generation’s joint venture with Enso Energy -Enso Green Holdings Limited (EGHL)- on the sale of a ready-to-build co-located solar and battery project portfolio to DIF Capital Partners, understood to be the largest co-located portfolio in the UK. The portfolio consists of seven sites with a total capacity of 720MW (380 MW of solar and 340MW of battery storage) which were developed by EGHL. The sale of each project will complete once each site is at ready-to-build stage.
  • JBM and Susgen on the sale of JBM Solar, one of the UK’s largest independent solar and co-located battery developers, and its 6.1GW solar and battery portfolio to RWE.  The pipeline comprises of 3.8GWac of solar and 2.3 GWac of battery storage projects located in central and southern regions of England, a large proportion of which already have grid connections and land secured.
  • Innova Renewables on a strategic partnership with funds managed by Schroders Greencoat LLP, which aims to fund and develop 5GW of energy generation and battery storage projects across the UK in the next three to five years. As part of the partnership, TLT supported Innova Renewables on the establishment of ISG Renewables — a joint venture platform with Schroders Greencoat — to help contribute to the UK’s energy security ambitions.
